Privacy policy
Your data, explained.
Applies to the current alpha version of RunCoached and this website. Updated 19 October 2026.
Who makes RunCoached.
RunCoached is published by Dead Villager Dead Adventurer Games (DVDA Games).
Your training history is processed on your device. RunCoached does not upload it to DVDA Games or an external AI service.
Health data and its purposes.
You choose which Apple Health data RunCoached can read. Its normal Health access is read-only.
- Workouts
- RunCoached reads your runs to make your plan and to compare each run with its session.
- Workout routes
- RunCoached uses the start point to find your home area and to see when you travel. It also reads hills and your pace changes.
- Walking + running distance
- RunCoached reads the distance of each run from this value.
- Steps
- RunCoached compares your daily steps with your usual day. A day with many more steps can be a hike or another active day.
- Flights climbed
- RunCoached compares the flights you climb each day with your usual day. Many more flights can show a hike with hills.
- Heart rate
- RunCoached uses heart rate to set your zones, to find your max heart rate and to check the effort of each run.
- Resting heart rate
- RunCoached compares your resting heart rate with your usual value. A higher value can be a sign of fatigue.
- Heart rate variability
- RunCoached uses heart rate variability as one sign of fatigue. Some watches do not record it.
- Sleep
- RunCoached uses only the times you sleep, to find your heart rate during sleep. That value shows fatigue better than resting heart rate.
- Cardio Fitness
- RunCoached shows the trend of Apple's Cardio Fitness value. RunCoached does not use it to set paces or zones.
- Date of birth
- RunCoached uses your date of birth to know your age. Some calculations change with age.
RunCoached does not sell Health data or use it for advertising. Your current recording setup must write the relevant data to Apple Health.
Location and weather.
Rules and text input
Rules choose the sessions, distances, paces, and limits. When available, Apple's on-device model is used only to read and categorize text you enter. It extracts details such as recurring runs for your plan.
Optional device location
When you enable location, Coach requests its own When In Use permission at neighborhood-scale accuracy. This helps select a forecast area and notice travel away from your usual running area. Health permission for workout routes is separate.
When location is unavailable
Coach can infer your usual running area from workout route starts. When the area is ambiguous, it asks where you will run. Without location or route history, it cannot infer an unseen destination. A stored forecast for the same place and hour can be used when a refresh fails.
When you send feedback
Coach opens an email in your own Mail. You see all of it before you send it. You can add a summary of your setup, with no routes, dates or heart-rate readings. You can also add the latest crash report that iOS recorded on your phone. Coach sends nothing by itself.
Weather uses a separate service
Forecast requests send the selected latitude and longitude and forecast time to Apple Weather. Coach does not attach your training summary. Apple also resolves area names and time zones from locations. Coach uses no other weather service.
Apple handles service requests under Apple’s Weather privacy information.
Opening an external link sends a request to that website. Its privacy policy applies there.
Storage and your choices.
RunCoached stores plans, settings, and reflections in local app storage. A selected forecast place is stored with its session, and forecasts are cached on your device by approximate location and hour; iOS may clear the forecast cache. Device and backup settings control any system backups.
You can withdraw read access in Apple Health. Removing RunCoached leaves your Health records in Apple Health.
Deleting RunCoached removes local app data. Retained system backups are governed by your Apple settings.
DVDA Games has no server copy of your training history to retrieve or delete.
